PT

What is Physical Therapy?

Physical Therapy (PT) helps children build strength, coordination, endurance, and balance to confidently move through daily life. Whether they struggle with mobility, activity tolerance, or pain management, our pediatric PTs use engaging, play-based strategies to support their growth and independence.

Does My Child Need PT?

If your child faces challenges with movement, coordination, or physical activity, PT may help. Below are common areas where PT can provide support:

Activity Tolerance

    • Tires quickly when playing or engaging in physical activities
    • Avoids activities that require physical exertion, impacting social participation

Mobility

    • Limited flexibility (e.g., struggles to stand up straight, touch toes, or walk with flat feet)
    • Difficulty problem-solving movement challenges
    • Excessive flexibility (hypermobility), often sits in a "W" position

Strength

    • Delayed milestones (e.g., difficulty sitting, crawling, walking at expected ages)
    • Struggles with climbing, running, jumping, or navigating stairs
    • Leans on objects frequently or has trouble standing upright for long periods

Coordination

    • Frequently trips, falls, or bumps into objects
    • Difficulty with hand-eye coordination (e.g., catching a ball, dribbling)
    • Struggles with crossing midline or differentiating arm and leg movements

Pain

    • Complains of joint pain after physical activities
    • Experiences muscle cramps after sitting for long periods
    • Has difficulty returning to activities after an injury

Balance

    • Struggles to maintain balance on small or uneven surfaces without support
